It seems the internet issues at our hotel has subsided and now we can bring you posts again while on the road here at the 2023 NWAC Softball Tournament. Today, Day 1 finished with the usual suspects advancing, and some surprises as well.
We started with a field of 16 and we are now down to 12 with the elimination today of 15-seeded Centralia, 11-seeded Edmonds, 13-seeded Spokane and 16-seeded Chemeketa. This went almost as expected, but we do have a possible Cinderella from the bottom of the seeds… 14-seeded Wenatchee Valley, who dodged elimiation when they defeated Edmonds in the Loser Bracket 2nd Round game today. They are moving on to face Lower Columbia who is the 12-seed in this tournament. could Wenatchee Valley make the improbable run, we shall see. A 12 vs 14 is a very winnable game for Wenatchee Valley. Followed by playing the winner of 9-seed Treasure Valley or 10-seed Everett.
On the winner’s side of the bracket, our four remaining undefeateds are 1-seed Bellevue, 2-seed SW Oregon, 3-seed North Idaho, and 4-seed Clackamas, just as you would expect when you seed a tournament.
So tomorrow, we have the 4 winners squaring off at 12:30 pm and we will be airing for the NWAC Sports Network the SW Oregon/North Idaho game.
